Indian star player Shikhar Dhawan called it quits from international and domestic cricket. Taking to social media the left-handed batsman announced the big decision. He said playing for India was his dream and he lived the dream. Thanking everyone who supported him in his journey the player announces retirement.

He is fondly called as Gabbar of Indian cricket. His celebrations on the field can make fans go gaga and he is a complete entertainer. His stint as an opener with Rohit Sharma holds a special place in his career.

Shikhar Dhawan is Mr. ICC as he performs well in the ICC tournaments. In the 2019 World Cup, he had a good tournament. However, he was replaced by KL Rahul due to injury. It's been some time since he played for the team. The 38-year-old announced his retirement.

He had good records across the formats. He played 167 ODIs for the Indian team and scored 6,794 runs. He had 17 centuries and 39 half centuries to his name. Dhawan scored 2,315 and 1,759 runs respectively in Test and T20 formats.

Dhawan was part of the ICC Champions Trophy winning team in 2013. He was consistent throughout the tournament and he received the player of the tournament award.

He had a good tournament in the 2017 Champions Trophy and 2015 ODI World Cup as he is the top scorer from the Indian team. His century against Australia in 2019 is the first century by an Indian against Australia in the World Cup matches.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan Jodi are dubbed as one of the best opening pairs India had. The pair not only broke the old records but set up new ones.
