Since the imposition of the 50% tariff by United States president, Donald Trump, India has been reigniting the lost connection with China. Related arrangements are being made through the Prime Minister and foreign ministry, correspondingly.

But when it comes to financial matters and military operations, is it really right for India to prioritise China or any other country over the United States of America? Here is looking into the story.

The United States is still the world’s only superpower. It has the largest economy, the strongest military, and the biggest influence in global affairs. For India, a strong partnership with the U.S. is very important for its future.

The U.S. is India’s biggest trading partner, much bigger than China. India earns a $40 billion trade surplus with America, while it suffers a $100 billion trade deficit with China. This clearly shows that the U.S. is a healthier and more reliable economic partner for India.

The benefits go beyond trade. The U.S. provides India with access to advanced defense technology, innovation, and cooperation in science and space. Both countries also share democratic values, which makes the relationship more natural and trustworthy.

History has shown that U.S. support has been crucial for India. During the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, the Kargil conflict, and even in times of food shortages, America’s help made a real difference.

Neither China nor Russia can offer India the same long-term reliability. Building deeper trust with the U.S. is not only about security, but also about India’s growth and rising global status in the years to come.
