The rise of social media is evident and we can see that with our eyes. Compared to 10 years back, social media grew bigger and became a big platform. It would not be an exaggeration to say that social media’s position reached a point where it is a big platform for taking information to people quickly.

The rise of social media is such that influencers are getting a lot of attention and prominence. As an example of this, parties are trying to rope in social media influencers to campaign for them in the elections. They will be in heavy demand during the elections as the parties approach them.

We have seen this in recent elections. Popular social media influencers who have followers in big numbers. Social media is filled with posts promoting a party. However, the posts were deleted by the influencers after the election result. Parties going after social media influencers tell us their popularity.

If you think only the regional parties do that then you are wrong. Even the national parties do that and show interest in roping in the influencers to use them as campaigners. With campaigners in hand, it gets easy to take the message to the people easily.

BJP is very strong as it won two terms and wants to win the third term. Despite this, the BJP is focusing on social media influencers. It is said that recently BJP held meetings with the influencers to focus on the campaign.

It is no wonder that the BJP is trying this and it is the party that understood the power of social media before other parties did. Before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections we saw how the Achhe din aane waale hain slogan was pushed in social media. Congress had no answer to this.

Talking about their remuneration it is said that based on their followers and popularity they get the paycheck. Their remuneration varies from Rs 50,000 to lakhs. They charge as much as Rs 50k for making a post. This shows the impact and the strong position they have.

Earlier parties used to give advertisements in Newspapers, Radio and TV. But things have changed now and social media has become a big platform. With this social media influencers became game changers.
