This is a social media era and we are living in it. The scale of social media is so huge that almost everyone uses the platforms to consume content. Irrespective of the age groups people use the platforms. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, X, and YouTube are leading the social media arena.

The scale of social media is such that, the majority of people can't imagine their lives without the platforms. Their day starts and ends with social media. Before going to bed they use the platforms and open the platforms after getting up.

Now a new study has come out that says that social media platforms are getting a major share of income from the youth through advertisements. Out of the revenue the platforms get, 30 to 40 percent comes from the youth which is huge.

Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in a study found that social media platforms earned as much as $11 billion in advertising from youth users in the US. Out of this, 30 to 40 percent was received from the youth.

Not just the youth even the age group of under 12 is also a high revenue generating one for the platforms as they eared big amounts. The study said that YouTube earned as much as $959.1 million from users who are under 12 and below. YouTube stands tall in this aspect with Instagram and Facebook standing in the next positions.

The study was carried out to know how users use social media to know the impact of social media on mental health. As part of this, it was found that the usage of youth users is very high and they actively use the platforms. They not only use the platforms but also generate huge income to the platforms.
