This is a big time for India given the elections due to the Lok Sabha elections and general elections in a few states. The Lok Sabha elections are getting a wide range of attention as the result would decide who would come to power at the Centre. The polling turnout in a region came as a big surprise to one and all.

We are talking about Srinagar as the voting turnout was close to 38 percent with 37.98%. The percentage might not appear very big if we look at it with normal eyes. But the percentage is big if we look at the previous elections. Observers say that the percentage is the highest in a few decades.

The percentage that was recorded in recent elections is the highest since 1996. The last time the Sri Nagar seat recorded a good percentage of votes was in the 1996 elections with a vote percentage of 40.9 %.

After a long time, the vote percentage increased in Srinagar which is a good thing. Experts say that scrapping Article 370 might have played a role in this which made the voters come out to use their vote.

As per the information shared by the experts, the vote percentage has been very low in the Srinagar seat after seeing a big growth in 1996. In the previous elections in 19, just 14.43 percent was recorded. Since 1996, the vote percentage has been decreasing with every election. In 2009 and 14, the vote percentage was over 25 percent.
