Stones-Politics: What’s Happening in Andhra Pradesh?

We are seeing stone pelting incidents in Andhra Pradesh. What happened is not a small thing and we cannot take it lightly. The reason is that against whom the stones were pelted are big leaders. Stones-politics which was started with CM Jagan had hit Chandrababu and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan. Who is behind this? Who is doing this? Were the stones pelted targeting them? Or is there any other reason? These are the questions many have. Keeping this debate aside it is evident that stones are pelted.

What Are The Reasons?

Three issues are seen as the reasons behind the stones-politics.1) Provocative speeches 2) Increased conflicts between the parties 3) Growing dissatisfaction among the public. The observers say that these might be the key reasons behind this.

1)Provocative Speeches: The situation is such that we cannot blame one party alone for this. Almost every party is doing this. Before the elections and during the elections, it is common for the ruling and opposition parties to give provocative speeches. Saying that Chandrababu Naidu is old, the YCP leaders are making explosive comments that he is focusing on the interests of one community. On the other hand, the TDP is sitting silent. The leaders are adding fuel to this. Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan is also no different. With this, there is no healthy atmosphere in politics. The trend is sending the wrong message to the youth.

2) Conflicts Among Parties: All parties are good and this is one aspect. They say that serving the public is their intention. But we are seeing a new angle. While TDP and Janasena are alleging that YCP is a party of thieves, YCP leaders are hitting back saying TDP and Janasena are robbery parties. With this, the friendly atmosphere and competition between the parties and leaders transformed into revenge politics and increased the conflicts among the parties at the ground level.

3) Growing Dissatisfaction Among People: It would be one-sided if we permit this to just the ruling party. There is dissatisfaction among the people against the TDP which was in power in the last term. There is a strong criticism that it has done nothing in matters like special status, the Polavaram project, and others. YCP is facing criticism that there is a lack of development in the state. The observers say that a few people and forces adding fuel to this is the reason behind the situation turning tense.
