Traffic Fines In Electricity Bills: Is It Good Or Bad?

Government of India has been contemplating several interesting decisions with regard to the public policy making, and now they have started to ideate something out of the blue. But this time it is the judiciary system, which is focussing on this particular aspect.

The Supreme Court of India has categorically pointed out that it might be the best idea to collect traffic challans by imposing these files on Electricity bills.

Apparently, there are ₹20,000 crore pending traffic fines that are unpaid in India as of this moment, and the Supreme Court has come up with an interesting idea to recover the same.

The Supreme Court announced that it might be a good idea to impose the pending traffic challans on the electricity bills of the concerned individual.

What this would essentially mean that if a person does not pay the traffic fine on time, then the concerned amount will be inserted in his or her electricity bill at the end of the month.

This way, the consumer will have to definitely pay the traffic fine amount along with the electricity bill as the connection would be abrupt if they do not clear the pending bill. This is the idea that is surfaced by the Supreme Court.

However, this decision from the Supreme Court has immediately invited criticism on social media as people are pointing out that it is not right to add so much financial burden on the common public.
