Freebies: What Decision The Supreme Court Is Going To Take?

If there is any sensitive topic in the country then it has to be the freebies. The political parties are divided on this. While a few parties are opposing them, the others are supporting them. Not just that they are dubbing the freebies as welfare. No matter what the parties are putting good focus on them.

However, the freebies are also carrying big criticism that they are putting a massive burden on the economy as implementing them requires a mammoth amount. Now all eyes are on the Supreme Court to see what decision the top court can take.

Ashwini Upadhyay filed a sensational plea with the Top court seeking directives to stop the irrational promises the parties make in the name of freebies. The petition said that trying to get a favour is an unethical practice and sought the directives.

The bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said that they will hear the petition today as the matter is important.

The timing of the plea is that the Lok Sabha election and general elections in four states will be held in a few months. Now the Supreme Court said it will hear the petition.

What the Supreme Court will do now is the question many have. It would not be a surprise if the Apex Court takes a strong stand on the crucial issue. If this happens then it might have a big impact on the Lok Sabha elections too.

Recently the Supreme Court took a strong stand on the electoral bonds and called them unconstitutional. Not only that, but the Supreme Court also directed the SBI to reveal the data and the numbers are out in the public domain now.With this people are waiting to see if the Apex Court can take any such decision. We might get clarity on this soon. Let us wait and see.
