It is known that a controversy was going on for some time on the funds gathered by the political parties. For the past few years, the political parties have been accepting funds in a new way which is called electoral bonds. Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, a row erupted on the issue once again. At the same time, a hearing is happening in the Supreme Court. Amid this, the Supreme Court made some critical comments.

Supreme Court made critical comments on the electoral bonds scheme which was brought to hand over the funds to the political parties. It raised questions on the availability of the scheme details to only a few. Supreme Court said that common people don't have the details of the donors who give funds to the political parties while the SBI and probe agencies have the details.

At the same time, the Supreme Court observed that offering money to the political parties gives legality to the offerings. It also said that if the Centre wants to give equal opportunities to all the parties then the details of the funding should be given to the election commission so that they can be distributed to the parties equally. Or else it would create a chance for a quid pro between the government and the donors, the Court observed.

The bench of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud heard the bunch of petitions filed challenging the Electoral bonds scheme. The bench observed that this would create a quid pro between the government and the donors. When a big debate was going on across the nation on the electoral bonds scheme, the Supreme Court made the key comments.

It is known that the electoral bonds are sold by the State Bank of India. While the lowest value of the bond is Rs 1000 the highest value of the bond is one crore. There are no limitations on the sale of the electoral bonds.

Parties Which Cannot Accept the Fundings:

When a big debate is going on about the electoral bonds across the nation, the question of which parties are not eligible to accept the funds has arisen. Let us look into this now. The electoral bonds should be allotted to the parties that are recognized by the election commission. The parties that accept the funds for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections should have at least one percent or more vote share.
