A sensational petition has reached the Supreme Court which touches on the crucial issue. The Supreme Court agreed to hear the petition filed by the petitioner. Not only that but the Supreme Court had also served notice to the Union Government to give its take on the issue. This grabbed everyone’s attention.

Interse*x Surgery is an old procedure that has been followed for those who want to change their se*x. We have seen many instances where people from one se*x change to another.

A person who hails from Madurai moved the Apex Court seeking directives to stop the Interse*x Surgery On Babies. The petitioner said that the surgeries are performed without their consent which is cruel and sought to stop the practice. It was also mentioned that only Tamil Nadu banned such surgeries.

The Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud led bench which also comprises justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said yes to hearing the petition and sought the response from Centre and Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA).

The petition says that the surgeries are performed to change the s*ex of the babies which is cruel and hence the practice should be banned. To this, the bench directed to send notices to the government for the response.

The seriousness of the surgeries is that performing them on the babies would leave a big impact. In some cases, the babies might face infidelity in the future. Another thing is that changing the se*x they get is not changeable in many cases.

Let us say a baby wants to be a girl or born as a girl, but if the surgery is performed and the baby becomes a boy he should stay like that for the rest of his life. In some cases, the se*x cannot be changed. With this, the petitioner sought directives to ban the practice.
