Surrogacy Rules: Centre Tells A Good News!

The surrogacy method was brought to benefit the couples who are unable to have kids. However the Indian Government said that the method is misused and imposed some restrictions. Commercial surrogacy was banned in the country earlier. Now the Centre made a new change that benefits the couples.

So far the couples who want to go for surrogacy should use their egg and sperm. This has been followed since the inception. But a big change was made to the rules which would be beneficial for the couples.

Centre came up with some good news for the couples and said that couples can use the egg or sperm of the donors. This will help the couples who are facing issues.

In some cases women cannot use their eggs and in some cases men cannot use their sperm. Now they can still go for the surrogacy as they use the egg or sperm of the donors.

However a condition was laid down for this. The couples who want to use egg or sperm of donors should seek a certificate from the district medical board.

Only after submitting the concerned medical certificate which says that couples cannot use their gametes will the donation be allowed. After the required check ups the certificate will be given.

This is beneficial for couples where one of them has issues. However if both partners have issues and cannot use the gametes then they are not eligible for this.

The changes in rules say that one gamete should be of donor while the other one should be of the couple.

It has to be mentioned here that last year the Centre said no to couples getting egg or sperm. The government said that both egg and sperm should be of the couples. Now the same was changed that would benefit many.
