By: Tupaki Desk | 22 Jun 2026 3:51 PM ISTIt is already known that several premier educational institutions had been moving towards digital revolution in the recent past, and this is largely after the Covid pandemic. But things are starting to change drastically now. For instance, we have the case of Sweden, which has taken a very big decision with regard to digital teaching and let us have a look into the same.
Sweden began expanding the use of digital devices in schools in the 2010s, but debate intensified after results from the sources showed sharp declines in mathematics and reading between 2018 and 2022.
Following this, a government-commissioned review by scientists and pediatric experts found that students’ reliance on digital devices could negatively affect attention and concentration, while suggesting that printed materials are more effective for learning.
According to the latest development, Sweden has collectively decided to put an entry to digital learning process in schools and other educational institutions and they are going back to printed books.
“The decision was based on research suggesting that young children, whose brains are still developing, may be particularly vulnerable to the effects of digital devices,” said Joar Forssell, chair of the parliament’s education committee.
This could soon be seen as a crucial piece of direction for the Indian educational system as well, considering that such digital programming is not going to be a good thing for students these days.
