By: Tupaki Desk | 10 Jan 2026 12:48 AM ISTThe Tamil film industry is facing a very peculiar and stiff challenge in connection with film censor certification problems. The issue has become so prevalent now that the chief minister Stalin himself had to react on this matter.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has openly condemned the alleged interference of the Central government in the censor process of the upcoming Tamil film JanaNayagan and also Parashakthi.
Reacting sharply to the issue, Stalin accused the BJP led Centre of systematically taking control of key democratic institutions. He stated that after agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department, the Central Board of Film Certification has also come under the influence of the ruling party at the Centre.
Stalin said such actions pose a serious threat to freedom of expression and creative independence. He stressed that cinema is a powerful medium of democratic voice and any attempt to suppress it for political reasons is unacceptable. The Chief Minister made it clear that his party will strongly oppose any form of censorship driven by political vendetta rather than lawful guidelines.
The DMK has officially extended its support to the film JanaNayagan and its lead actor Thalapathy Vijay and also Sivakarthikeyan who has a new release in the form of Parashakthi.
Party leaders and supporters expressed their anger against what they described as BJP’s growing control over institutions that are meant to function independently. The controversy has sparked intense debate across Tamil Nadu, with fans, filmmakers and political observers closely watching the developments.
The issue is expected to further intensify political tensions between the DMK and the BJP in the state, especially ahead of upcoming political milestones.
