Nagendran also questioned Vijay’s political experience. According to him, Vijay is known only as an actor and has no real experience in politics.
By: Priya Chowdhary Nuthalapti | 14 Feb 2026 4:16 PM ISTTamil Nadu politics has heated up ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. Political parties are attacking each other strongly, and sharp words are being exchanged every day. In this tense atmosphere, comments made by BJP Tamil Nadu leader Nainar Nagendran against actor-turned-politician Vijay have sparked a major controversy. The mention of actress Trisha has especially angered many people on social media.
Speaking to the media in Chennai, Nainar Nagendran made strong and personal remarks against Vijay. He said, "First Vijay should come out of his house. Only if he comes out of his association with Trisha then will he understand political reality." He further added that before trying to lead a state, Vijay should first fix his family matters. These comments were seen by many as crossing the limits of political criticism and entering personal territory.
Nagendran also questioned Vijay’s political experience. According to him, Vijay is known only as an actor and has no real experience in politics. He said that great leaders built movements slowly and with deep understanding. To explain his point, he used a proverb and stated that without experience, big goals cannot be achieved. He also rejected claims that Vijay’s party would get a large share of votes just because of his popularity as an actor.
At present, Tamil Nadu is witnessing a four-cornered political fight. The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam alliance is trying to retain power. The AIADMK–BJP alliance is aiming for a comeback. At the same time, Seeman’s NTK and Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
Meanwhile, rumours about Vijay and Trisha have been circulating for some time. Both have stayed silent on the issue. However, many feel that dragging an actress’s name into political attacks is disrespectful. Similar comments were made earlier by DMK leaders as well.
