It is already known that the political situation in Bangladesh has been going up and down due to the prevailing situation and uncertainty. The government is not stable enough and administration is going up and down due to the political turmoil.

Bangladesh has undergone a dramatic political shift in its 2026 general election, marking the country’s first major vote since the July 2024 uprising that toppled long-time leader Sheikh Hasina and led to a caretaker government.

The Tarique Rahman, often referred to as the “Dark Prince,” is set to become the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh after his party, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), achieved a landslide victory with a clear majority in the National Parliament.

Rahman’s rise is remarkable: he spent nearly 17 years in self-imposed exile in London and only returned to Bangladesh last December after the death of his mother, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. His leadership was key to BNP’s success, capitalizing on widespread demand for change following years of political tension and protests.

The election also included a constitutional referendum introducing reforms such as term limits and stronger judicial independence. International powers, including the United States, have congratulated Rahman on what many view as a historic moment for Bangladeshi democracy.

Rahman’s tenure will mark the first time in decades that a male leader holds the prime minister’s post, and his government faces the challenge of addressing economic issues, social divides, and maintaining diplomatic balance regionally.
