A significant fire erupted at Tata's iPhone manufacturing plant in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, early Saturday morning, specifically around 5:30 AM. The blaze originated from the mobile phone accessories painting unit, rapidly spreading and generating thick smoke that was visible from a distance. At the time of the incident, approximately 1,500 workers were on duty during the first shift. Fortunately, the company's emergency protocols were effective, ensuring that all employees were evacuated safely without any reported injuries, although three workers required hospital treatment for respiratory issues and are currently stable.

Emergency response teams acted swiftly, deploying seven fire tenders to combat the flames and assist with evacuations. Fire and Rescue Services from various nearby regions were mobilized to manage the situation as smoke billowed from the facility. Despite the rapid response, officials stated that it could take several hours to fully extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with authorities assessing the extent of damage to the plant.

Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL), which operates this facility, released a statement acknowledging the incident and reaffirming their commitment to employee safety. They emphasized that emergency protocols had been followed effectively and that they would take necessary actions to protect their workforce and stakeholders. The facility is part of a larger investment aimed at producing components for Apple’s iPhone lineup and has been a significant contributor to local employment.

As investigations continue, local authorities have increased their presence in the area to ensure safety and manage any potential fallout from the incident. The fire not only highlights concerns regarding workplace safety in manufacturing but also raises questions about operational protocols in high-stakes environments like electronics production.
