One of the leading tech companies in India, Tata Consultancy Services shortly referred to as TCS has reportedly completed a pretty major layoff. It is reported that the company has released a substantial chunk of its workforce.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT company, has reported a major drop in its workforce during the second quarter of the financial year.

The company’s total workforce decreased by 19,755 employees, bringing the total number of workers down to 593,314 as of September 2025. In the previous quarter, the company had 613,069 employees, showing one of the biggest quarterly declines in its history.

TCS has also hinted that more layoffs could happen in the coming months. The company explained that the reduction is part of its plan to improve productivity and balance costs during a challenging global business environment.

Experts believe this move reflects a slowdown in demand for IT services, especially from clients in the United States and Europe. Many tech companies are facing similar challenges and are cutting jobs to control expenses.

Despite the drop in staff, TCS continues to focus on key areas like artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and cloud services to stay competitive. The company said it remains committed to hiring fresh talent when business conditions improve. Overall, the layoffs show how India’s top IT firms are adjusting to new global realities and changing technology demands.
