Over two hours into the counting, we got a clear picture of who comes to power in Andhra Pradesh. Considering the trend as of now, the alliance is looking very close to a big win. It is leading in over 160 seats in the Assembly segments. The ruling party is restricted to less than 15 seats.

While this is the scene in Andhra Pradesh we are seeing an unexpected situation at the Centre. The NDA which was dubbed as a clear winner in the elections is not having a good time so far. NDA is leading in less than 300 seats while INDIA is leading 232 seats.

This hints that anything can happen. The political observers say that if NDA falls short of the magic figure then TDP emerges as a big player. It can even dictate terms to the NDA and become a key player.

With 16 MP seats in hand, TDP will become the second-biggest party in the NDA. In this case, BJP has to give good importance to Andhra Pradesh and TDP which can be seen as a good thing for the state.

Even ten years after the state bifurcation, we don’t have a steady capital. There are some pending issues with the Centre. There are some issues with Telangsns on water sharing and others.

With the NDA looking short of the magic figure, TDP can stay strong in fighting for the state's interests. We were not in such a position in 2014 and 2019 with NDA having a good majority. But things have changed now and NDA might not get the required seats.

In this case, Chandrababu Naidu might become a kingmaker and get things done for the state. He might get the required support for Amaraavti and seek the Centre’s help in getting institutions and companies.

Playing a key role at the Centre is not new for Chandrababu and he did it back in the 90s. This is the reason for veteran BJP leader LK Advani often credits CBN for helping the alliance in picking the PM. Let us see what CBN can do this time.
