Narendra Modi’s third term started at the Centre. On Sunday Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term equaling the record of Jawaharlal Nehru. However, there was a difference this time compared to the last two terms.

This time BJP could not get the magic figure on its own. TDP and Nitish Kumar supported the BJP helping Narendra Modi to become the PM. TDP was assured Cabinet berths and the Ministers took oath. However, the portfolios are not beneficial to the state.

Ram Mohan Naidu who is the youngest member of Modi’s Cabinet was given the Civil Aviation of India. This is the second time TDP was given the portfolio. Earlier Ashok Gajapathi Raju held the portfolio and this time Ram Mohan Naidu got the chance.

Another TDP leader Pemmasani Chandrasekhar was made the MoS Rural Development. Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma is the MoS of the Ministry of Heavy Industries; and Ministry of Steel.

If we look at the three portfolios they would not help the state in any manner. Given the situation of Andhra Pradesh and its condition, a portfolio like Urban Development would have done it better.

Andhra Pradesh is yet to have a steady capital. With the alliance in power, Amaravati is seeing a change as work has started already. If the Urban Ministry had given to Ap then it would benefit the state and Amaravati the state's capital.

The potential Amaravati had in Urban development is such that earlier KTR said Hyderabad is the largest Urban Development authority in the country with no activity in Amaravati. He said that no work was going on in Amaravati and had there been any work then Amaravati would be the largest authority.

Looking at all these aspects everyone has the opinion that the Cabinet berths are of no use to the state. AP cannot benefit from the Aviation Ministry as airports are going into the hands of private entities slowly. The other two berths are just assisting ones.
