Poor South Africa; This is the reaction of people who saw the second semi-final of the ongoing World Cup where Australia and South Africa locked horns. South Africa lost the match and was knocked out of the tournament. Those who are aware of the game and history say that the South African team that defeats the opponents in the league stage fails in knockouts and that's why they are called chokers.

The South African team sees big wins in the league stages and goes through immense pressure in the knock-out matches. This weakness was exposed yet again and the team recorded its seventh defeat in the semis. The team lost the semis five times in the ODI World Cup while it lost twice in the T20 World Cups. It is no exaggeration to say that the stats are heartbreaking for any team and fans of any team.

Given the performance the South African team gave in the league stage, people predicted that the team would march towards the final. The batting lineup smashed many teams. In the league stage, South Africa batted first in nine matches, and every time it scored over 300 runs. Even in the semis, the team batted first.

As the lowest score the team recorded in the league stage was 311/7, fans predicted that the team would roar in the semis. The top order has players like Quinton de Kock, Temba Bavuma, and van der Dussen and there are players like Markram and Miller in the middle order. But the match had a different ending. Other than David Miller(101: 8×4, 5×6) and Klaasen((47: 4×4, 2×6) no player could score big runs.

South Africa was all out for 212 runs in just 49.4 overs. Despite having an unsteady start in the chase the Australian team won the match losing seven wickets in 47.2 overs. Australian batsman Travis Head(62: 9×4, 2×6) was awarded the man of the match. Even in commentary and on social media everyone says what's wrong with South Africa and why this happens only with the team.

Including yesterday's match South Africa lost seven times in the semis for the seventh time so far. In 1992, 1999, 2007, 2015, and 2023 World Cup matches and in the 2009, and 2014 T20 World Cups the team lost the semis race. We have to wait and see when the team can come out of this.
