Tejasvi Surya, the BJP MP from Bengaluru South, made history on Sunday by becoming the first Indian parliamentarian to complete the Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Goa. This grueling event consists of a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride, and a 21.1 km run, totaling 113 km. Surya finished the race in an impressive time of 8 hours, 27 minutes, and 32 seconds. Previously, he participated in a relay team for the same event in 2022, where he completed only the cycling segment. His recent achievement reflects his commitment to fitness and endurance sports.

In a post on social media, Surya expressed pride in his accomplishment and credited his rigorous four-month training regimen for his success. He highlighted that his motivation stemmed from the Fit India movement initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which aims to promote physical fitness among citizens. Surya emphasized that fitness instills discipline and confidence—qualities he believes are vital for the youth of India.

Prime Minister Modi praised Surya's achievement as a "commendable feat" and expressed hope that it would inspire more young people to engage in fitness activities. The Ironman 70.3 Goa event attracted participants from over 50 countries and was flagged off by tennis legend Leander Paes, showcasing a diverse group of athletes dedicated to pushing their limits.

Surya dedicated his completion of the Ironman challenge to India's athletes and sportspersons, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. He encouraged young Indians to embrace fitness as an essential part of their lives, stating that setting fitness goals can lead to significant personal growth and improvement. His participation in this challenging triathlon aligns with a broader initiative to foster a healthier lifestyle across the nation.
