Proud Telugu High! From Hyderabad College To Sydney Mayor!

Since the early 2000, the volume of the Telugu population that has been travelling to countries like the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, and others has been going consistently. The best part about this is that several of these migrants had been creating significant impact on the society after travelling abroad.

Now we have interesting case of a Telugu lady who happens to be from Telangana and has scripted history by becoming the mayor in the Sydney Council.

This lady in the discussion here is Sandhya Reddy who hails from Telangana and educated in Hyderabad, who is now holding a powerful position in the Sydney Mayor Council.

Karrie Sandhya Reddy, who happens to heal from Hyderabad, has been elected Mayor of Strathfield Municipal Council in Sydney, Australia.

Earlier, Sandhya Reddy moved to Australia in 1991 and later established herself as an immigration lawyer. She had been very active in the political arena in Australia for a long time now.

Her journey into public service began as a councillor in 2021, followed by her appointment as deputy mayor in 2023. She will now lead the council, bringing her legal experience and commitment to community service to the role.

She also happens to be a close relative of Telangana BJP politician Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who is a big name here in Telangana. Nevertheless, it is a very proud moment for the entire Telugu community to see one of their own, becoming the mayor of Sydney council.
