The situation remains dire, particularly in districts like Khammam, where local officials describe the flooding as "unprecedented," with water levels in rivers reaching alarming heights. Congress MP Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy noted that while the rain has ceased, the damage to homes and infrastructure is extensive, necessitating immediate relief efforts and rehabilitation work for affected families.
Telangana's Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, has urged the Prime Minister to declare the situation a national calamity and has requested immediate financial assistance to aid recovery efforts. The government plans to provide ex-gratia payments to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as compensation for farmers affected by the floods. As the state grapples with the aftermath of this natural disaster, officials are working diligently to assess the full extent of the damage and coordinate relief efforts for those in need.
