By: Priya Chowdhary Nuthalapti | 7 Jun 2026 11:52 AM ISTA tragic incident involving a young Indian man has shocked people in both India and the United States. Anshul Kuncha, a 28-year-old man from Telangana, was shot dead while working as a part-time pizza delivery executive in Philadelphia.
Anshul had been living in the US for nearly four years. He worked for a multinational company during the week and delivered pizzas on weekends to earn some extra money. According to reports, he received a pizza delivery request on a Saturday night and went to the given address to complete the order.
However, when he arrived at the location, the situation turned tragic. The area was reportedly deserted, and an unidentified attacker opened fire on him. Anshul was shot multiple times and died from his injuries. The attacker fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Family members believe that the delivery request was fake and may have been used to lure Anshul to the isolated location. His sister, Tanvi, said the order appeared to be a trap. She stated that there was no actual customer waiting for the pizza and that the attackers seemed to have planned the incident in advance.
The family also pointed out that none of Anshul’s belongings were stolen during the attack. Because of this, they are questioning the motive behind the killing. Reports mentioned that two masked individuals carrying backpacks were seen near the area around the time of the shooting.
Anshul had reportedly faced a robbery in the past while living in the US, but that incident did not involve any serious injuries. His family said he had never experienced a life-threatening situation before this tragic event.
The family is now requesting authorities to speed up the process of sending Anshul’s body back to India so that they can perform his final rites. They have also demanded justice and want those responsible for the crime to be identified and punished.
The Consulate General of India in New York expressed sadness over the incident and said it is in contact with local authorities and Anshul’s family. The consulate assured that it would provide all possible assistance during this difficult time.
