Telangana municipal elections were held on February 11, and the counting is currently progressing now. And let us have a look at the numbers that we put up by the leading political parties.

Telangana municipal elections results began coming in today after vote counting commenced early this morning across the state. Voting for municipal polls was held on 11 February in 123 urban local bodies comprising 116 municipalities and 7 municipal corporations covering 2,981 wards. Over 52 lakh voters cast their ballots with a turnout of around 73 per cent.

By mid-day, initial trends showed the Indian National Congress emerging as the clear frontrunner. In ward-wise counting of 2,582 municipal wards, the Congress was leading in 300 wards, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) trailed with 170 wards and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was ahead in 48 wards.

Early results indicated Congress had already secured outright majorities in six municipalities, with BRS winning one municipality outright. In several towns, results were mixed or hung with no clear majority yet, signaling tight contests in urban local bodies.

In key municipal corporations, trends showed Congress making strong gains in Ramagundam, Mancherial and Nalgonda, while in Karimnagar BJP and independents posed stiff competition.

State election officials said counting continues at over 130 centres under tight security, and full tallies are expected later tonight. The outcome of these polls is seen as a major barometer of political strength ahead of future state-level battles.
