Why all parties eagerly awaited this Thursday?

Thursday… all the political parties in Telangana have been eagerly waiting for this Thursday to come. Now that Thursday is here, the political parties are agog with anticipation. Why? What is so special about this Thursday? The auspicious Sravana Masam of the Hindu calendar begins from this Friday.

The political action will begin now and will go on at a frenetic pace. The parties will launch campaigns, prepare manifestos and release lists of candidates. The adhika Sravanam month, which is considered inauspicious, has ensured that no major announcements are made till the beginning of Sravana Masam.

Sources say that the BRS has identified three dates, which are quite fortuitous, to announce its candidates' list. Several welfare schemes aimed at luring the voters, will also be launched in this month. KCR too is likely to undertake a whirlwind tour of all the districts in the state of Telangana.

The Congress too is likely to accept applications for party tickets from prospective candidates with the onset of the Sravana month. Also, the tours of major party leaders will also begin soon. The BJP too is getting ready with a slew of outreach programmes in the Sravana month.
