What Is The Controversy Around Telangana State Song?

Everyone is talking about June 2 as the 10 years of Telangana state formation will be celebrated in a big way. Telangana was carved out of combined Andhra Pradesh which led to the creation of two Telugu states. Telangana is the youngest state in the country and it is the 29th state.

It's been around ten years since the state was formed. However, there is no official state song. Ahead of the Dashabdi celebrations, a song has been selected that was actively used during the state movement. However, a big controversy erupted around this, and let us have a look at it.

Ande Sri’s song Jaya Jaya He Telangana is selected as the state song. Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani was selected to compose the tune. However, the Telangana sentiment was raised again with a section of people taking strong objection.

Those who oppose this are asking how Keeravani can be selected when there are many composers from Telangana. Ex IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar who is with the BRS party strongly opposed this. He asked the CM to respect the sentiments of the Telangana people as he is in a responsible position.

A few activists who took part in the special state movement also opposed this and some of them even gave a call to ban the celebrations in a bid to protest against this. The issue is getting more intense day by day.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reacted to this and said that it was Ande Sri who picked Keeravani to compose the tune and he did not pick his name. The song also raised the Andhra-Telangana issue with some of them strongly opposing this.

An alleged audio call which is said to be of Ande Sri went viral on social media and says he asked if there is any more talented composer than Keeravani. All these factors are adding fuel to this.

As people are creating a big issue on this, those who are supporting the decision are bringing the Bathukamma song into the picture. They are asking how AR Rahman composed the song if only Telangana people should deal with such issues.
