By: Tupaki Desk | 12 Sept 2025 9:48 PM ISTIt is already known that the shocking incident involving a Telugu individual in the United States has grabbed all the attention in the world. There are several discussions on the fact that a Telugu individual named Chandra was brutally beheaded by an illegal immigrant in the United States earlier.
In this context, there are several posts on social media about how the Indian community in the United States must take relevant security measures in order to stay safe.
The posts reference a real incident where Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah, an Indian motel manager in Dallas, was brutally beheaded by a Cuban national, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, on September 10, 2025, after a workplace dispute escalated.
The worst part here is that the police reports and Indian Consulate statements are confirming the attack occurred in front of Nagamallaiah’s family.
It highlights a legal nuance: H-1B visa holders like Nagamallaiah are generally barred from owning firearms under 18 U.S.C. 922(y)(2), but exceptions exist via hunting licenses or carry permits, suggesting self-defense options like tasers or pepper spray could have been viable.
There is increasing demand for the United States Authority to permit licenses even for immigrant Indian population in the United States.
It must be noted that there have been several crime activities against the Indian population in the United States in recent times, and there is desperate need to call for elevated security measures.
This shocking incident involving the Telugu individual is absolutely petrifying the Indian community in Dallas and also across the United States. It has to be seen what sort of action the government would be taking henceforth.
