The central government is strictly enforcing the GST collection mechanism all across the country and this is significantly contributing to the national economy, which will be distributed for the states as well.

In this context, the GST collection for the month of August this year has been remarkable with all the major states contributing heavily.

Maharashtra is expectedly at the top of the chart with a massive 28,000 crore+ GST collection. This is understandable due to the fact that Mumbai is the financial capital of India and it generates a significant amount of revenue to the state of Maharashtra as well.

The list highlights Maharashtra's Rs 28,900 crore GST collection in August 2025, surpassing the combined total of the bottom 15 states, reflecting its industrial dominance amid India's 6.5% GST growth to Rs 1.86 lakh crore.

And then we have the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which are also on the list. It is interesting to note that Telangana is still ahead of Andhra Pradesh when it comes to GST collection, even 11 years after the bifurcation of Telugu states.

Well, Telangana has generated 5103 crore GST collection, we have Andhra Pradesh on the other hand with Rs 3989 crore. The presence of Hyderabad in the economic geographic is clearly helping Telangana and keeping it above its neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh.
