Now a celebrated Indian tennis player made big comments on how women's success is valued. Saying that valuing women’s success is long due the player said that there is a need for introspection.
Sania Mirza who is one of the popular Tennis players in the country made some crucial comments on the need to celebrate women's success. In response to an ad that sheds light on how women’s professional success is looked at.
Sania Mirza spoke about her example and highlighted how people were interested more to know when she would settle down despite seeing big heights winning the WTA title back in 2005 and becoming world no. 1 in doubles and winning grand slams.
Citing the example from her life and the treatment Sania Mirza shed light on how her achievements were downplayed. Having said that, the player took the opportunity to thank for the support she received. Adding further Sania Mirza said that it is an overdue introspection on how women's success is looked at.
“In 2005, I was the first Indian woman to win a WTA title. Big deal, right? When I was world no. 1 in doubles, people were keen to know when I’d settle down,” Sania Mirza said on her social media.
