TN By Poll War: What's Public Mandate On CM Vijay?
The interesting observation here is that the Vijay party had to successfully defend and not just one but two Assembly constituencies in the election today.
By: Tupaki | 9 Oct 2026 6:22 PM ISTIt has been nearly 5 months since the appointment of Thalapathy Vijay, as the new chief minister of Tamil Nadu, as he was able to lead his TVK party into its successful campaign. He is already facing a big challenge with regard to the by election campaign.
The interesting observation here is that the Vijay party had to successfully defend and not just one but two Assembly constituencies in the election today.
The two constituencies that had gone to election are Madhurantakam and Dharapuram, which are crucial in nature, considering the geographical position of the same. Earlier the TVK had lost the Dharapuram constituency by margin of more than 40,000 votes.
With so much emphasis being placed on these consequences that are of a lot of importance to the TVK government, the was the desperate need to win them by a tremendous margin.
The positive thing for the Vijay government here is that both the seats were comfortably one by the TVK today. Majority in the Dharapuram Assembly constituency is around 10,000 votes, which is significantly better result to the TVK compared to the defeat by 40,000 votes margin in earlier election.
The other seat was expected to be captured by the TVK, and it was finally executed in the result today. So it is safe to say that the people of Tamil Nadu are very much pleased with the performance of chief minister, Vijay as of now.
But the real challenge is going to be to maintain this momentum and continue on this path till 2029 when the actual MP elections will be held and a bigger mandate will be released.
