Tamil film stars venturing into politics is not new and the trend has been going on for a long time. Will Thalapathy Vijay also take the same path and start a new path? This is the question many have as the media reports have been saying the same for some time.

The possible entry of Vijay has been in the news for some time. Making the reports true, Vijay announced the political party. It is now official that the top star announced a political party to try his luck in the elections.

On Friday Vijay shared the big news and announced his party ‘Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam'. The motto of the party is to eradicate corruption. His fans broke into big celebrations when Vijay announced the party.

However, fans have to wait some time to see Vijay in action in politics. Contrary to what fans hoped, the political party will not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as the party eyes the next general elections in the state.

Besides this, the party will not support any party in the Lok Sabha elections. Vijay will bid goodbye to his film career soon and focus solely on politics. He would get free from his film commitments at the earliest.

In 2021, Vijay fan club members contested the local body elections in Tamil Nadu and won over 100 seats. The fan club named All Indian Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (AITVMI) won as many as 115 seats and it almost wiped out Kamal Haasan’s party in the polls.

Many said that the local body elections are like testing waters for the star to take the big step. Cut to a few years Vijay announced the party which will swing into action in the next general elections in Tamil Nadu in 2026

With this, Vijay joined the elite list of film stars who took the political path. Earlier, MGR, Karunanidhi, Jayalalithaa, and Kamal Haasan entered politics. Rajinikanth also came close to entering politics. But he backed out at the last moment.
