Delhi-based think tank Image India released the data on this. Over the years the count of Indian students going to Canada increased. The numbers increased recently. As per the estimations, the percentage of students going to Canada might drop by at least 5 percent in the wake of the ongoing situation. If this happens, then Canada might face a loss of around 73,000 dollars.

Every year the educational institutions in Canada grant admission to around 2 lakh Indian students for higher studies. Indians make up the major share of foreign students in Canada. Last year as many as 2.25 lakh Indian students were given visas to go to Canada. Compared to other nations, the opportunities and the facilities available in Canada make it preferable for higher studies.

After higher studies, students will have the facility to work in Canada for one to three years. That’s why students prefer going to Canada. In the wake of problematic ties between the two nations, many say that the admissions in January would be affected. Indian students might have second thoughts about going to Canada as per the observers.

As per the estimations, the number of students who go to Canada in January would be around 66,000. Even if the numbers go down by at least 5 percent this will have a big impact on Canada's economy. On average every student who goes to Canada spends around 16,000 dollars. If the costs of two years of study, accommodation, laptop, and other expenses then the cost would be around 69,000 dollars.

5 percent of them account for 3300 and if they decide to not go to Canada then Canada might face a loss of 23 crore dollars. If the admissions in May and September go down by 5 percent then Canada might lose as much as 69 crore dollars. If the students' visas go down then the Canada High Commission might also lose 30 lakh dollars of income. If the Indian students have second thoughts on going to Canada, then the nation would lose big income.

Even if 5 percent of Indian students decide to not go to Canada the country will not only lose a big amount but those who run small businesses will also face issues. Indian students are helpful to small businesses there as they do part-time jobs. If they don't go there then the shop owners should pay a big amount to others to hire people. If this happens then the business sector will face a big impact. Indian students not going to Canada will impact the education sector and the finance sector. Canada might also understand this.
