United States, president, Donald Trump is one of the most controversial and unpredictable global personalities, and this is back on display with his latest actions involving the government administration.

Donald Trump has tweeted and posted on Truth Social that he is directing every federal agency to “immediately cease all use of Anthropic’s technology,” declaring that the U.S. government will no longer do business with the AI company.

He wrote that the government “doesn’t need it, doesn’t want it, and will not do business with them again,” and announced a six-month phase-out period for agencies such as the Defense Department that currently use Anthropic products.

Trump also warned of major civil and criminal consequences if the company does not cooperate during the transition.

This drastic move stems from an escalating feud between the U.S. government and Anthropic over how its artificial intelligence models may be used by the military.

The Pentagon, led by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, has designated Anthropic a supply-chain risk and sought unrestricted use of its AI technology, including in areas such as surveillance and autonomous weapons.

Anthropic has refused to remove safety limitations, saying it cannot in good conscience accede to those demands and plans to challenge the government’s actions in court.

The abrupt ban has drawn industry concern, with tech leaders warning that cutting off a key AI provider could weaken U.S. capabilities and strain relations between Silicon Valley and the federal government. Meanwhile, rival AI firms are positioning themselves to take advantage of Anthropic’s exclusion.
