A Day After Tariff Changes, Trump Cancels $21M Aid To India
The same can be understood if we look at the fact that Trump has altered the tariff situation and has also granted an aid of $21 million to India.
By: Tupaki Desk | 19 Feb 2025 10:39 AM ISTJust last week, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi went to the United States of America to meet the lives of President, Donald Trump and Elon musk. It was expected that this meeting would further strengthen the bonding between the United States and India.
Where were the United States is doing everything but standing up further for India. The same can be understood if we look at the fact that Trump has altered the tariff situation and has also granted an aid of $21 million to India.
Trump canceled the U.S. AID program to India, as a part of which the United States government used to grant $21M to India for enhancement of voter turnout.
“Why are we giving $21 million to India? They have a lot more money. They are one of the highest taxing countries in the world in terms of us; we can hardly get in there because their tariffs are so high. I have a lot of respect for India and their Prime Minister, but giving $21 million for voter turnout?” He stated today.
Earlier, Trump largely modified the tariff system to all other countries including India as he stated “
For many years, the U.S. has been treated unfairly by other Countries, both friend and foe. This System will immediately bring Fairness and Prosperity back into the previously complex and unfair System of Trade.
America has helped many Countries throughout the years, at great financial cost. It is now time that these Countries remember this, and treat us fairly.”
While great things were expected from Modi’s visit to US, that is not exactly the case with the prevailing situation now.
