Trump Effect: Highest Immigrants Arrested In 1 Day?

The onset of the Donald Trump administration in the United States is being met with intense action that is being taken by the immigration control department. The same can be understood from the fact that the highest number of arrest of immigration population was made recently.

On June 3, 2025, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested over 2,200 immigrants in just one day. This was the largest single-day immigration operation in ICE’s history. Most of the people arrested were already part of ICE’s Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program.

This program usually allows immigrants to live outside of detention centers while their immigration cases are being processed. ICE monitors them using ankle bracelets, phone apps, or regular check-ins.

In this operation, many people were asked to come in for what seemed like routine check-ins. But when they arrived, they were taken into custody. ICE said these arrests were part of an effort to remove people who were ordered to leave the country by immigration judges but didn’t follow the orders.

ICE, however, defended the action, saying it was necessary to enforce the law and maintain order in the immigration system. This operation has raised serious concerns about fairness and human rights.
