Trump Fires on USAID To India, Again
Trump had even cancelled the USAID program that was in effect under the Biden administration.
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 Feb 2025 5:58 AMIt is already known that the Donald Trump administration in the United States is bringing several reforms in the government operations and also financial matters. Trump had even cancelled the USAID program that was in effect under the Biden administration.
Trump had cancelled the $21 million allocation that went into enhancing water turnout in India, and he has now touched on this topic again as he made a series of interesting comments.
Trump noted that there is absolutely no need to make this financial contribution to India, which is a financially stable country and does not need external financial allocation towards electoral turnout.
“It was a blunder to give India $21 million for enhancing their own voter turnout. If anything India must be helping us with the electoral process as they are the largest democracy in the world and hold the biggest election globally. It is absolutely unnecessary that we pay them money to implement their own electoral process.” Trump stated.
Trump went on to say that India imposes one of the highest taxes on the United States products which is not acceptable and must be counted with proportionate hikes by the U.S. government. He sounded very frustrated about the Biden administration that had allocated the mention amount of money to the Indian government.
It must be noted that Biden administration allocated the mentioned amount of money, which roughly converts to ₹182 crore back in 2021. In the first line of duty, Trump cancelled this allocation to India, and he has now ordered a probe into this matter.
