Trump has once again voiced strong support for the H1B visa program, saying the United States still needs skilled foreign professionals to fill crucial gaps in advanced industries.
He stated that the country simply does not have enough talent in certain specialized areas and that it is unrealistic to take people from unemployment lines and place them directly into complex technical jobs.
According to Trump, sectors like advanced manufacturing, defense technology, and chip production rely heavily on highly trained workers who are not always available within the domestic workforce.
At the same time, the administration has introduced a steep US 100000 application fee for new H1B visas. Officials argue that this move is intended to prevent misuse of the program while still keeping it open for genuine high skill talent.
The White House maintains that the fee is an important step to reduce fraud and strengthen the integrity of the system.
Trump’s stance has led to a sharp divide within his own party. Several Republican lawmakers believe the fee and continued dependence on foreign workers will hurt small businesses and weaken innovation. Others argue that the United States must remain open to global talent if it wants to stay competitive in critical industries.
