A recent case has caused confusion among Green Card applicants in the US. After completing the interview and submitting the required medical examination form (I-693), an applicant unexpectedly received a Request for Evidence asking for the same form again.
The applicant was puzzled since the document had already been submitted in person at the interview.
Experts quoted in the report explained that USCIS requires the I-693 form to be submitted in a sealed envelope provided by a civil surgeon. If it is uploaded online or sent unsealed, it may be considered invalid, leading to a repeated RFE.
Some immigration attorneys believe such requests often result from administrative errors or misplaced paperwork at USCIS offices rather than an issue with the applicant’s file.
The article also mentioned that the applicant’s second interview was scheduled and then canceled, adding to the confusion. Experts advised applicants facing similar situations to carefully read the RFE, ensure timely submission of the requested form in the proper sealed format, and keep copies of all documents submitted.
