After reaching 60 people are seen as elders. This is also the age of retirement for people be it public sector or private sector. After attaining the age, people take a back step and take some rest. After bearing various responsibilities they prefer taking rest.

However, we get to see different scenes in politics. As an example of this, leaders who are in their seventies are in the political race in Telangana this time. As many as five leaders who are in their seventies are contesting the elections. Interestingly, their opponents are very young.

Pocharam Srinivas Reddy: The senior politician who is serving as the Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly is in the race this time. He is regarded as one of the tallest leaders in the state. He has been in politics for the past few decades since the combined state and he has served as the Cabinet Minister. Earlier it was reported that his son might contest this time. But he was given the ticket from his strong zone, the Banswada Assembly constituency.

Vanama Venkateshwara Rao: The former MLA who is in the race this time is close to 80 making him one of the oldest candidates in the race. His political career is a few decades old. He has the experience of serving as a Minister. Considering his experience he was preferred by the BRS party over his son.

Allola Indrakaran Reddy: Another veteran politician in the race. The Nirmal MLA won two consecutive elections in 2014 and 2018 and in both terms, he was inducted into the state Cabinet. In two terms he was elected as MP. The 74-year-old is given a ticket for the elections and he is in the race yet again.

Marri Shashidhar Reddy: The 74-year-old was elected as MLA four times. After being a part of the Congress party for a few decades he was expelled from the party. With this, he wore the BJP shawl. He was given the Sanathnagar ticket from where he won four times. Interestingly he is facing a fight from BRS candidate Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who is the Cabinet Minister in the seat.

Ramreddy Damodar Reddy: The senior politician has a history of winning as many as five times as MLA. He won twice from one constituency and thrice from another seat. Congress party gave him a ticket at the last minute from the Suryapet constituency.
