A piece of good news finally. The Uttarakhand Tunnel Rescue Operation which has been going on for over two long weeks took a positive ending as the efforts gave a fruitful outcome. In a big relief, all the workers trapped in Uttarakhand's Silkyara tunnel were rescued and evacuated.

The rescue operation was completed the other day as 41 workers trapped inside the tunnel were rescued and sent to the hospital for treatment. Ambulances were deployed at the site and once they were brought out they were shifted to the hospital for treatment.

The rescue operation saw a big push on Tuesday as Rat-hole miners were deployed and 55.3 metres of the pipe was laid. The officers who were involved in the operation said that the operation would end if the pipe was pushed for a few more meters.

On the night of Tuesday, the rescue operation ended on a positive note as all the workers were rescued and sent to the hospital. The Uttarakhand government is taking care of the treatment costs of the workers who are undergoing treatment.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the Chinyalisaur Community Health Centre where the workers are being treated. They were handed over with the relief cheques by the Chief Minister on the occasion.

As the workers were given the treatment they would be airlifted to the temple city of Rishikesh and will be sent to the premium facility All India Institute of Medical Sciences for the required check-ups.

The tunnel collapse happened earlier this month. The tunnel construction was planned as part of the Char Dham project which is 4.5 km long. When the tunnel construction was underway a part of it collapsed on the 12th of November. This resulted in the workers trapped inside. A rescue operation was finished the other day.
