DMK leader and also the leader of opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin was detained from his residence in Neelankarai on Tuesday after a case was registered against him over his allegedly objectionable remarks made during a rally on the Cauvery water dispute in Thanjavur.

Udhay Stalin was arrested by police following a complaint registered by a ruling TVK functionary accusing him of making misogynist remarks at a public meeting in Thanjavur a day earlier.

This will go on as one of the most significant developments in Tamil Nadu politics in recent years as there is a lot of discussion happening on the same.

The fact that the opposition letter was arrested, barely three months into the formation of the Vijay government in Tamil Nadu shows the intensity of the law and order crack down that is happening.

In the meanwhile, the legal team associated with the leader of opposition is currently consulting with the Madras High Court for an anticipatory bail in this case. This verdict is expected to come out this afternoon.
