Udhayanidhi Stalin is a noted name in the South as he is an actor and his family has been in politics for decades. He is a producer as well and his recent film Maamannan won critical acclaim and also earned good collections. Udhayanidhi Stalin took the political path and won the 2019 polls. He is a member of his father's cabinet.

Udhayanidhi Stalin became a known face in the nation for the wrong reason. Recently, he made some objectionable comments against Sanatana Dharma and said that like Malaria and Dengue, Sanatana Dharma should also be eradicated.

His comments created a political controversy and the demand for strict action against him is gaining momentum. Besides a few complaints, a letter was written to the CJI by the eminent personalities seeking suo moto cognizance of the issue and action against him. Given the intensity of the issue, the Tamil Nadu government increased the security at his house as a safety measure.

On the other hand, the BJP is not leaving any stone unturned to criticize Udhayanidhi Stalin and the DMK party for making objectionable comments against a religion that is followed by the majority of the people in the country.

Amid this, Udhayanidhi Stalin's controversy hit his father MK Stalin. Social media users dug out an old video of Stalin making controversial comments on the marriage rituals that involve holy fires and priests. While he said that the fires cause unrest for eyes, Stalin said that hymns uttered by the priests are not understood.

Now the old video is doing rounds and MK Stalin is also being criticised for his statements. A big debate is going on around Dravidian ideology vs. the Sanatana Dharma. We have to see how many more twists the issue will take.
