For a long time, now, the United States green card has been one of the most desired outcomes for the Indian community that has been staying in the United States. However, with the onset of the Trump administration, the elongated timelines for green cards have become a topic of discussion.

However, a recent case in Atlanta showed that a married Indian couple received their U.S. Green Card approval in just five months, which is much faster than usual. The couple got married in July 2024 and filed both Form I-130 (petition for spouse) and Form I-485 (adjustment of status) together in early 2025. This method is called “concurrent filing” and can sometimes speed up the process.

Normally, the Green Card process for married Indians takes around 8 to 18 months. Many people face delays due to background checks by the FBI, delays in biometrics appointments, interview backlogs, or requests for more documents (known as RFEs).

In this case, everything went smoothly. The couple responded quickly to all requests, had a short interview that lasted only 10 minutes, and didn’t face any major issues. This helped the process move faster.

To speed up your Green Card process, it’s helpful to file both I-130 and I-485 at the same time, be ready with all documents, and respond quickly to USCIS requests. However, not everyone will get fast approval, as each case is different and depends on background checks and processing times at local USCIS offices.
