It is already known that the Donald Trump administration in the United States has been moving very fast to mitigate the H1B Visa culture in the country. This is now going to hit a new peak, and here is a look into the story.

Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has announced that she will introduce a new bill aimed at ending the H1B visa program in the United States.

She argues that the system is being misused by companies to replace American workers with cheaper foreign labour. According to her proposal, the H1B program would be phased out completely, with only a small exception of ten thousand visas per year for medical professionals such as doctors and nurses.

Even this exception would be slowly reduced over the next ten years. The bill also seeks to block the path to permanent residency for H1B holders, meaning that people working on this visa would no longer be able to apply for a green card and must return to their home country once their visa expires.

This move is expected to impact Indian professionals the most since a large share of H1B visas are taken by Indians working in technology, engineering, and other specialised fields.

Interestingly, this announcement comes shortly after Donald Trump stated that the United States does not have enough domestic talent for certain advanced sectors and defended the need for skilled foreign workers.
