The big companies associated with the United States are starting to show a steep drop in hiring Indian H1B visa holders as the trend is becoming alarming for everyone involved.

The number of H1B visa approvals for new jobs at major Indian IT companies has seen a sharp fall, dropping by nearly 70 percent since FY 2015. This shows a big change in the U.S. tech job market. In FY 2025, the top seven Indian IT firms together received only 4573 H1B approvals for new employment, which is 37 percent lower than FY 2024.

This is also the lowest number in the last ten years. The rankings changed completely this year, with Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and Google taking the top four spots for new H1B approvals. These companies are hiring more foreign graduates from American universities, especially to support their growing work in AI.

Among Indian companies, TCS remained the only major player in the top list, getting 846 approvals in FY 2025, compared to 1452 the previous year. Only three Indian IT firms made it into the top twenty five employers for new H1B petitions.

Denial rates for extensions stayed low overall, but some Indian firms faced higher rejection rates for new applications, such as HCL America at six percent and LTIMindtree at five percent.

The shift is happening due to business changes, AI focused hiring, policy scrutiny, and professionals exploring other immigration options.
