By: Tupaki Desk | 23 Feb 2026 9:17 AM ISTThis is already known that the Donald Trump administration has been very volatile when it comes to United States shut down. There have been several instances of the United States, government and administration temporarily shutting down.
The statement means that because of a partial government shutdown in the United States, some airport security programs are temporarily affected. A government shutdown happens when Congress does not pass a funding bill, so certain federal agencies do not receive money to continue full operations.
In this case, the Department of Homeland Security is impacted. This department oversees airport security and border control. As a result, services related to TSA PreCheck and Global Entry are being paused at some airport enrollment centers.
TSA PreCheck is run by the Transportation Security Administration. It allows approved travelers to go through airport security faster without removing shoes, belts, or laptops.
Global Entry is managed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. It helps international travelers re enter the United States more quickly using automated kiosks.
Because of the shutdown, new applications, in person interviews, and some renewals for these programs may be delayed or temporarily stopped at certain airports. However, people who already have active TSA PreCheck or Global Entry memberships can still use their benefits for travel.
The bigger issue is that federal workers connected to these programs may be furloughed or working without pay until funding is restored. This creates delays and inconvenience for travelers. Once the government passes a funding bill and agencies reopen fully, these services are expected to resume as normal.
