However, this culture is now in serious jeopardy with the onset of the new Trump administration in USA.
The return of the Trump administration has been marked with serious changes in the immigration policy and much stricter regulations are in effect now. In accordance with this, the US government has started to crack down on the student community in the country.
In this context, a Telugu guy who is currently in the United States has shared a video which is like a dagger to the Heart of the Telugu community in the United States.
In this video, this guy pointed out that police officials and related authorities have been actively searching and identifying students who have been working on part-time gigs in the United States, which is against the law. He added that these cheques were happening in different states across the country, but not in Dallas till now.
However, to make matters worse, this checking process has reached Dallas now and according to the man in the video, one of his known friends has faced a detrimental situation. He revealed that an Indian student was recently stopped for cheques while he was on DoorDash delivery duty at a restaurant.
Apparently, a policeman stopped this student and questioned him about his OPT and he replied that he came to the restaurant just to eat and had no commercial strings attached. Reportedly, he could even furnish the offer letter that was issued in his name by his consultancy, which ended up saving his day in the end.
After this shocking incident, it is heard that several students have started to cut down on DoorDash and Uber eats delivery mechanism as this could potentially lead to their deportation as it is against the law for international students to work on off-line gigs while studying.
This video is now going viral on social media as more and more Indian students in the United States are continuing to give up on part-time jobs in fear of deportation.
