It is a known fact that the Telugu film industry is largely dependant on the United States box office for massive revenue generation. This is mainstay due to the fact that our Telugu films generics bring big revenues from the United States.

This is also the reason why the U.S. distributors pay such big amounts to Telugu films which again goes back into the production costs of the films. But for a change, things are starting to take a very bad turn now. This is mainly due to the latest announcement from the president of United States Donald Trump.

Trump had announced a new tariff model that imposes 100% tariff on foreign films in the U.S. which directly affects the Telugu film industry and also other Indian films.

The latest statement from trump goes like “The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death. Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and many other areas within the U.S.A., are being devastated.

This is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat. It is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda!

Therefore, I am authorizing the Department of Commerce, and the United States Trade Representative, to immediately begin the process of instituting a 100% Tariff on any and all Movies coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands. WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!” The statement read.

This means that all the Telugu films henceforth will come under 100% tariff banner which is a very bad thing. It has to be seen how Tollywood and our producers will react to the same.
