The Donald Trump administration in the United States is making life very difficult for the Indian community with new restrictions on Visa policies almost every single day. In this context, we have the shocking case of an individual who got his visa application rejected.

An Indian professional recently shared his unusual experience of being denied a US student visa for being “too successful.” He had worked at Amazon for over four years as a Senior Investigation and Risk Specialist and later applied for an F-1 visa to pursue an MBA in Global Management at City University of Seattle.

During the visa interview, the officer reportedly told him he was already successful, questioning the need for further studies.

The applicant admitted he did not clearly explain why the MBA was essential for his career growth in India.

Visa experts note that such interviews focus heavily on two factors, whether the course genuinely supports the applicant’s professional goals, and whether the person has strong ties to their home country to ensure they return after studies. In this case, his achievements may have made the officer doubt his intent.

Some also pointed out that the choice of university could have influenced the decision, as officers often weigh the reputation of the institution against the applicant’s profile.

The professional now plans to reapply, this time presenting a stronger case that the MBA is necessary to move into senior leadership roles that are otherwise difficult to reach.
